Richie began the class with a 3 minute demo
to music. It was really mesmerizing to watch him
flow from isolation pop and lock moves into the
more continuous movements such as "moonwalk" and "electricity".
This demo also gave the students an idea as to
what they would learn in class.
Richie had our class of 19 students, ranging in
age from 12-50 really groovin'! The majority of
the class had no experience in the pop and lock
style, so it put everyone on a level playing ground.
Very few of the students knew each other, but Richie's
friendly style of teaching put everyone at ease
right away. It was a real joy to see complete strangers
laughing and helping each other on the moves! Also,
I gained a number of new students for my own classes.
